Asthma-Friendly Child Care Resources

Helping to make the Nation's child care centers more asthma-friendly is a priority of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP). In support of this priority, the NAEPP's School Asthma Education Subcommittee is compiling a list of asthma resources for use in child care settings. The NAEPP wants to share these resources with you.

Today, the featured resource is "How Asthma-Friendly Is Your Child Care Center?" Parents and child care staff will find this resource useful for determining how well their child care setting accommodates children with asthma. A seven-item checklist in scorecard format can be used to help pinpoint specific areas that may cause problems for children with asthma. An extensive list of contacts and publications organized to address each specific area identified on the checklist is included. The checklist is available in both English and Spanish.
