What this site is

This site rebuilds pages that were once published from this web address so that links to them keep working and the material stays readable. It is an archive: items are reproduced as they were published, with the original wording left intact, and where an item could not be recovered the page says so rather than reconstructing it.

History of the domain

From roughly 2000 to 2015 the nhlbihin.net domain, together with its hp2010 and emall subdomains, served a contractor-run public health information website for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, which offered health calculators, recipes, a publications catalog and education slide sets. That site is no longer operated. The present site is unrelated to the institute and to the National Institutes of Health; it is an independent archive of some of that public-domain material.

Public-domain material

The historical materials reproduced here were originally published by U.S. government agencies and are in the public domain under 17 U.S.C. §105. They are reproduced as archived reference, not current clinical guidance. Health recommendations change; anyone making a health decision should rely on a qualified clinician and on current guidance.

• Dates on archived items are the dates of the original publication, not of this site.
• Some archived items, such as software for discontinued handheld devices, can no longer be distributed and are described instead.
